On October 21, the 5th Annual Meeting convened in Washington, D.C., bringing together senior government leaders, business executives, and international partners to advance friendshoring strategies across the Northern Triangle and the U.S..

Under the theme: “Friendshoring the Future: Capitalizing on Tariff-Driven Growth,” key discussions focused on energy, infrastructure, and workforce development to build resilient and competitive supply chains.

Key Highlights:

  • U.S. Under Secretary of State Thomas Lerston outlined a strategic vision of hemisphere trade and investment.
  • Officials from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador reaffirmed their commitment to regional economic and security cooperation.
  • Richard Aitkenhead, President of Grupo IDC and HUGE Board Member shared details of the HUGE Infrastructure Investment Fund - a bold initiative to finance the physical and digital foundations of friendshoring, launching in 2026.

On August 26, HUGE hosted a high-level virtual forum with energy leaders from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, alongside private-sector executives, to discuss the future of energy integration in the region.

  • Expand electricity generation across the Northern Triangle
  • Strengthen SIEPAC interconnection to ensure cross-border reliability.

  • Advance regulatory reforms for affordable and clean energy.

Showcasing Regional Leadership at Latin America-Middle East Summit

Dr. Juan José Daboub addresses the World Governments Summit, emphasizing the role of friendshoring in driving regional opportunity.

On October 3, HUGE participated in the first Latin America-exclusive retreat co-hosted by the World Governments Summit (WGS).

 

Dr. Juan José Daboub, President of ThinkHUGE, spoke during the session, “Strategic Moves – Mapping the Economic Chessboard,” highlighting Latin America and the Caribbean as a rising hub for growth, particularly in technology, clean energy, and SME-driven growth.
